Decide what belongs in the shipment
Work through the rooms before choosing a service. List furniture and estimate the boxes, then separate anything you may sell, give away or keep with you. An international relocation involving a whole household needs different assessment from a few packed belongings. Mark uncertain items rather than treating them as confirmed.
Put the important dates in order
Record when you must leave, when the destination is accessible and who will receive the belongings. Travel dates and delivery dates may differ. Ask what collection and delivery windows can be agreed, and how changes are handled, before relying on a date that has not been confirmed.
Choose help for the actual belongings
Say which rooms or pieces need packing, whether you need materials and which items need particular handling. Photographs and dimensions help explain furniture and delicate finishes. Packing, dismantling, delivery to a room and assembly should each be recorded in the quotation when required.
Check the proposal from end to end
Compare the same inventory, access and route. Ask which transport, document handling and delivery tasks are included, who handles each stage and which charges remain outside the price. Keep the agreed proposal with your inventory and update both if your plans change.

- Timing, inclusions, exclusions and customer responsibilities.
Your questions answered
Are international movers and removal companies the same thing?
International movers is another common term for companies arranging overseas removals. Check the actual service scope: household goods shipping, packing and destination delivery may be offered separately or together.
Can I start before I have a destination address?
Yes. Give the country and town you know, explain what is undecided and update the address before the arrangements are agreed.
