Separate everyday packing from particular care
List fragile, valuable or unusually shaped pieces alongside their dimensions and condition. Photos can show decorative details, loose parts and delicate surfaces. Ask for white glove assessment where needed rather than assuming ordinary wrapping is suitable for every finish.
Ask about materials by contents
Explain what needs protection and the approximate quantities. Books, clothing, pictures and crockery may need different box sizes or protective materials. Ask about paper, bubble wrap, corner protection and furniture covers where relevant. Confirm availability and suitability before treating a materials request as a supply order.
Keep the inventory and labels connected
Give each packed box an identifier and note its room and general contents on your inventory. Mark fragile contents clearly and keep handling instructions with the enquiry. Avoid writing private details or valuable contents conspicuously on the outside; retain the detailed list securely.
Agree who packs and unpacks
Tell us what will already be packed and which pieces need help. Confirm the packing materials, labour and any unpacking or placement tasks included in the quotation. Keep travel documents and essentials accessible so they do not enter the shipment by mistake.
Your questions answered
Should I wrap an antique before assessment?
Provide photographs and handling details first if you are unsure. The material, finish and condition affect the appropriate protection.
Can I request boxes without requesting a full move?
Yes. Use the separate packing-box request with quantities, or ask for help choosing. Materials remain available as an option within a moving enquiry too.
