Shipping boxes and luggage guide

Shipping boxes and luggage guide

When you are sending boxes or suitcases rather than a whole household, a package list is the most useful starting point. Describe what is travelling and what still needs packing.

List contents and package types

Separate boxes, suitcases and bags by type and quantity. Describe the contents in useful groups rather than simply writing personal belongings. Flag fragile pieces and anything you are unsure can travel so acceptance can be discussed before packing.

Measure each packed size

Give length, width and height in centimetres and weight in kilograms where known. If several packages share a size, record the number together. Label estimates clearly and update them after packing; final measurements can change the shipment assessment.

Make the handover practical

Provide the collection and delivery countries, towns and access. Say who will receive the packages and whether reception hours or accommodation rules affect delivery. Do not assume a suitcase can travel unpackaged or that every address accepts unattended deliveries.

Keep the list with the quotation

Upload an existing inventory, spreadsheet or photographs with your contact and route details. Check the agreed packaging, accepted contents, collection arrangements and delivery scope. Keep the final package list with your reference and report changes before collection.

Your questions answered

Is household goods shipping only for furniture?

No. The phrase can also describe boxes of household belongings. Use the package enquiry for boxes and luggage, or the moving enquiry when furniture forms part of the load.

Can I enquire with estimated weights?

Yes. State that the measurements are estimates and update them once the packages are ready.
