Student moving checklist

Student moving checklist

Start with your course dates, accommodation arrangements and the belongings you need to send. A useful first list can be short, especially while your room or arrival plans are still being confirmed.

Check what your accommodation provides

Ask which furniture, kitchen items and bedding are supplied before adding them to the shipment. Separate what you will use on arrival from items that can travel later. Keep documents and immediate essentials accessible during your own journey.

Record dates and receiving hours

Give the course start, tenancy dates and when the residence can receive belongings. Ask whether reception accepts packages, whether a room number is required and who can receive a delivery on your behalf. A course start date does not automatically become a confirmed delivery date.

Make a package list you can update

Estimate the boxes and suitcases, describe the contents and include dimensions and weights where known. Explain what is not yet packed. Use the household enquiry instead if furniture or a larger room-sized load needs assessment.

Plan your return with fresh details

At the end of the course, your belongings and addresses may have changed. Keep the original list as a starting point, then update the route, contents and receiving contact. Ask about the new journey rather than assuming the earlier arrangements apply again.

Your questions answered

Can a parent arrange the enquiry?

Yes. Give the organiser's contact details and explain who will be available at each end.

Can I start before my room number is allocated?

Yes. Provide the country, town and residence details you know, and update the delivery information when it is confirmed.
